Name: Number of Artistic References

Display Field: LEVEL_3

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: SNH has commissioned AECOM to map the cultural association to landscapes. This project has yielded point data that represent location which have been the inspiration for one of five different art forms (Film/TV, music, novels, poetry and paintings). These point data have been used to identify the total number of artistic references within individual landscape character areas (Level 3), which are mapped in 5 classes using Natural Breaks. Commonly points in this context are mapped as density rather than absolute numbers to remove the level of bias for large areas. However given that we assume the inspiration is closely linked to the unique character of the landscape as described by the landscape character we argue that absolute numbers in this case are acceptable.
