Configure a web map for Indoor Viewer

Available for an ArcGIS organization licensed with the Indoors extension.

Web maps that contain feature layers and map image layers can be used for Indoor Viewer. However, if you are using a map image layer-based web map and have made updates to settings in the IndoorsConfig table, you need to manually add the IndoorsConfig table after publishing the web map to your portal. You will also need to add the Areas table if hotel and hot desk areas have been configured in Indoor Space Planner.

To add the tables, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your ArcGIS Enterprise portal using your organizational account.
  2. Click Content and search for the web map shared from ArcGIS Pro.
  3. Click the browse button for the web map and click Open in Map Viewer.
  4. Make any necessary changes to the web map, such as renaming layers, removing layers, and turning on the layers that should be initially seen when opening Viewer.
  5. Add the following optional tables to the web map: IndoorsConfig and/or Areas table:
    1. Under Contents, click the More Options button for the map image layer in the web map, and then click Show Item Details.
    2. In the Item Details page, scroll to URL and click View to see the tables and their links.
    3. In the REST endpoint for the map image layer, scroll to the Tables section, right-click IndoorsConfig, and click Copy link address.
    4. Go back to Map Viewer.
    5. Click Add > Add Layer from Web.
    6. Make sure the type of data you are referencing is An ArcGIS Server Web Service.
    7. Paste the copied URL to the table and click Add Layer.
      Note:

Repeat steps a through g to add the Areas table if hotel and hot desk areas have been configured in Indoor Space Planner.

  6. In the portal's Map Viewer, rename the table from <nameofmapservice> - IndoorsConfig to IndoorsConfig.
  7. Save the web map.
